Fluoride applications

Fluoride varnish is a dental treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. It is painted on all teeth at the appointment and can be applied 2-4 times a year.

One off whitening

Opalescence Go disposable trays containing 6% hydrogen peroxide (highest legal percentage) are placed on the teeth – wear for 60 – 90 minutes post treatment then remove and dispose. A great one off top up to enhance that Saintly Smile or give a little boost.

Fissure sealants

These little beauties are painted onto the biting surface grooves of the teeth known as fissures and create a lasting smooth protective shield against food products and sugars sticking in these grooves, they make the tooth surface easier to clean, helping prevent tooth decay in a very susceptible site.

Sensitive tooth treatments

There are many causes of sensitive teeth, this is a much more complex subject than this section allows and requires a more tailored detailed discussion relevant to you at appointment.

The bulk of the tooth is made up of dentine which contains lots of tiny tubules (channels) which run from the enamel to the nerve. The 2 main causes of Sensitivity occur due to movement in the dentinal tubules due to worn down enamel or gum recession, there are two options which involve sealing the tubules or occluding the tubules.

Several things can wear enamel or cause gum recession, incorrect brushing, smoking, acidic food/drinks, gum disease, clenching/grinding teeth (see TMJ blog), acid reflux which causes acid from the stomach or oesophagus to enter the mouth, eating disorders or conditions that cause frequent vomiting to name but a few.
