Scotland Loves Local

The Scotland Loves Local Gift Cards are worth £105 each and are issued to help eligible, low income households cope with the cost of living crisis. At the same time also helping local businesses all of whom are also facing financial pressure. The Scotland Loves Local campaign is a national initiative, led by Scotland’s Towns Partnership, designed to encourage all those who live in Scotland to think local. We are very proud to be registered to accept the gift cards.

Webinars + Podcasts

The Webinar. I had the pleasure of being invited to chat alongside my friend Joanne (Pure Dental Hygiene in Northern Ireland) and Jules and Luke (both of whom i was introduced to for the first time just prior to the webinar). This webinar was to inspire other Hygienists and Therapists to become practice owners to give patients direct access to preventative care. Your chance and Your choice to choose prevention straight from the high street; regardless of if you are registered with a dentist, not registered with a dentist, have not seen a dentist for years.

Prevention is better than cure as they say and since May 2013 you can see a hygienist without seeing a dentist first. Dentistry is still very much team work but just like you see a physio or an optician separate from a GP you can now see a hygienist separate from a Dentist.

Whole Health not just Oral Health starts with promoting health and preventing disease and that is what Hygienists and Therapists are highly trained in.

The Podcast. I was delighted to be invited to be part of NSK’s Podcast Series. I will put the link here but i warn you it does go on a bit. But if you have come this far into the website you are either a top fan or an ex of one of team ohh! stalking us lol so you may wish to hear all about what i had to say. If you are a top fan or an ex we wish you well x

Assistance Dogs

As you probably know we ourselves have a very pampered pooch in Bayley. When we were asked if we accepted assistance dogs of course the answer was a resounding yes! This is Pumpkin he is the first assistance dog to attend Ohh! Once his human mum gave the ‘desist’ command we were able to get a cuddle. Pumpkin we are now better prepared for your next visit with a doggy water bowl and some treats.

Cumbernauld United FC

Ohh! sponsor Kev Watt the striker of a local football team ‘Cumbernauld United FC’ who play in the West of Scotland First Division. We also advertise down at Guys Meadow which is 5 mins from Ohh! As a semi- professional team they rely on sponsorship support. ‘Whole Health not just Oral Health’ the Ohh! motto sits well with this sponsorship and we hope to spend a bit more time down at Guys Meadow supporting the team this season.

Braehead Wedding Exhibition

Oops! This is the only pic we got, this was set up day when only the basics were in place and CJ + I paused for a pic. We had not recovered from the GDO show the weekend before and these exhibitions and shows are crazy. We have a new found appreciation for anyone who exhibits! Hundreds of people stopped by to spin our wheel of fortune and enter our raffles. We did not pause for breath the whole weekend. What a fabulous exhibition the ladies put on - well done to all involved in the Breahead Wedding Exhibition. We were glad to be part of it and i totally lost my voice by the end of it promoting ‘whole health not just oral health’ x

Girls Day Out

Too tired to write anything, our first show…set up Thursday and full on absolutely crazy mental show Friday, Saturday + Sunday!

I also had a presenters slot in the Health & Beauty theater (in for a penny in for a pound as they say).

We will be back in November for the Christmas Girls Day Out - we may have recovered by then! Yay promoting health + preventing disease on a massive scale & hundreds of chats + free raffle entries. xx

Tunnocks

Some of Team Ohh! had the pleasure of popping over to Tunnocks in Uddingston to collect donations for our next Abronhill Regeneration Forum Fundraiser. We were hoping that the reception would have complimentary teacakes on arrival but instead we had to detour to Tesco on way home to get a box of 6 - the donation remained safe and untouched!

We were promised a GIANT teacake for promo opportunities but i think i could eat that size of teacake in one sitting! The person who thinks that is GIANT has never had a big bar of chocolate! #confessionsofadentalhygienist

ARF are always very appreciative of any donation we receive and over the years Tunnocks have been and are always Fabulous, Thank you Tunnocks.

More info on ARF in the Charity section on the navigation menu.

Cumbernauld Gala Day

The Cumbernauld Gala Day did not have the good fortune of the sunshine we had at the ARF gala day unfortunately. The outdoor gazebo had to be ditched for fear of us flying away and a quick plan B put in place for many stall holders. As with everything in Scotland you can never rely on the weather. Smiles all round as Steven M a local DJ asked for a selfie with Mike Molar (fame at last lol). The community still came out in droves despite the storm.

Tiny Tots Summer Fayre

Ohh! were invited along to take part in the Tiny Tots Summer Fayre. Mike Molar happilly obliged with his Toothbrush + Toothpaste pals, giving out tiny toothpastes, toothbrushing activity charts and stickers. It was all sunshine and smiles at the Fayre.

Limitless Open Day

Limitless 24/7 is owned by a friend of ours, James started his business from his back garden and has worked tirelessly to provide the fabulous gym he has now. Limitless may initially look intimidating but trust me when i say it is the friendliest most helpful gym you can be a member of , there is no posing down here everyone is just doing their own thing to better themselves.

We were invited to be part of an Open Day and our motto ‘Whole Health not just Oral Health’ is perfect for this occasion.

Check out Limitless you won’t regret it.

Stay Fabulous x

Cumbernauld Cares

Russell from Cumbernauld Cares popped into Ohh! to have a chat about the Abronhill Regeneration Forum and promote some of the work we do in the community. I couldn’t resist getting a ‘Hot Fuzz’ quote in there.

Thanks Russell for promoting the regen forum.

Abronhill Regeneration Forum Gala Day

Abronhill Regeneration Forum (ARF) we are a registered charity SCO32872, and to be honest if you asked the 9 of us how we pull off the Gala Days i am not sure we could answer. Looking at this pics though makes it all worth it. We are tirelessly fundraising and working behind the scenes and we appreciate every donation and every member of the community who comes along and takes part. The Forum is about improving life for the inhabitants of Abronhill and we strive to just make Abronhill a better place to live. As soon as the Gala Day is over the Christmas Fayre starts being planned (no rest for the wicked lol).

The Easter Fayre

Whitelees Parent Council invited us to be part of their Easter Fayre as we had voluntarily taken part in their Whitelees Christmas Walk (we live in Whitelees). We were delighted to go along with Mike Molar and his Toothbrush and Toothpaste pals as always promoting health and preventing disease. Where you see Mike and his pals you can guarantee there are some prizes to be won and giveaways alongside tiny toothpastes and stickers. Team Ohh! want to ensure all your smiles stay fabulous x

Mum’s In Business Christmas Promo

MiB the mums in business organisation were hosting a Chrismas Market and we took a stall to promote Ohh! and thought we would bring along a bit of extra fun with our Mike Molar and Ginger (Ginger is actually the ARF gingerbread man who has been living with Team Ohh! this year due to multiple appearances at gigs!). As is standard with our appearances we were promoting health and preventing disease with our giveaways and raffles. Keeping Scotland Smiling. x

Whitelees Christmas Walk

During Covid the primary school in our estate ‘Whitelees Primary School’ wanted to do something in place of the usual festivities that would have taken place and created a Whitelees Christmas Walk - asking those who live in Whitelees to decorate their houses and let them know when we had so they could create a fun route for the kids and families. Team Ohh! went a bit further and had Mike Molar, Ginger and a friendly little elf on hand to distribute Tooth friendly items from our festive car boot. It’s all about community and Christmas spirit after all (and teeth).

Merry Christmas x

Dentistry Scotland Awards 2021

Would you Adam + Eve it! We only opened our doors 5 months ago on 15th June 2021.

Yay, Finalists in 4 categories and Highly Commended in 2! (Highly commended is only awarded if there were 2 too close to call Winners and then 1 thing just tips the winner into position so they create a Highly Commended to recognise this).

Watch out for next years awards we are coming to win ya!

Van Gogh Alive

Those of you who have visited Ohh! will know that in the Smiles room above the Dental chair we have Van Gogh’s Sunflowers and in the Skin room Monet’s Path through the wheat field.

But did you know that art promotes healing and well-being? .. and you thought i was just giving you something to look at. ‘Whole Health not just Oral Health’ at Ohh!

We had the opportunity to experience Van Gogh Alive in Edinburgh and could not leave without purchasing a Van Gogh Rubber Duck (who now resides at Ohh! reception).

Abronhill Regeneration Forum Food Drive

Abronhill Regeneration Forum have sourced funding, shopped, packed and created soup packs and pasta packs plus each bag had fruit and 6 eggs for any members of the local community who need them. We distributed these at Abronhill shopping centre in the square and all packs were successfully given away. We were working in partnership with Asda Cumbernauld to bring the community a valuable resource. Thank you Asda. x
